  • How do I quit smoking?:

 

  • This is what you should do when you quit:
      1. Spend sufficient time where smoking is prohibited.
      2. Drink large quantities of water and fruit juice.
      3. Avoid alcohol, coffee, and other drinks that are accociated with smoking.
      4. Strike up a conversation instead of a match for a cigarette.
      5. Instead of holding a cigarette, hold a thin tubular item which matches the volume of a cigarette. (e.g. pencil)
      6. If you miss expierencing a cigarette in your mouth, try a toothpick, carrot, cinnamon stick or celery.
      7. Avoid temptation by staying away where you associate with smoking. (e.g. bars, nightclubs)
      8. Find new habits, and develop a new smoke-free environment around yourself.
      9. Stress constructive not destructive, thinking lessens discomfort.
      10. Avoid resuming the habit by anticipating future situations that might lead to smoking and assert your reasons for not giving up.
      11. Think positively not negatively.
      12. Remember your goal and the fact that the urge will eventually fade and pass.
      13. Take rhythmic breaths similar to when your smoking to relax.
      14. Brush your teeth often.
      15. Do brief exercises. (e.g. isometrics, push-ups, jogging, knee bends)
      16. Call friends who are likely to support you.
      17. Compile a list of "Urges for smoking activities," and start at the top if it emerges.
      18. Eat several smaller meals.
      19. Reward yourself.

       

  • I only use smokeless tobacco , That means it isn't bad right?

 

      • No! all forms of tobacco are harmful. Smokeless tobacco may not affect your lungs but it is very bad for your teeth , mouth , stomach and throat. It also still causes cancers. So just quit using tobacco all together maybe chew gum instead.

       

  • How hard is it to quit smoking or using tobacco?

 

      • There isn't an exact answer to this question it all depends from what many say though it is "one of the most important and most challenging lifestyle changes an individual can make." (as said by a popular quit smoking website." So just don't start smoking and you will not have to worry about the hard process of quiting. If you are a smoker below are some tips.
