About Principal Dave Golden

Dave Golden was born and raised in a small town in upstate New York. He attended Albany State University and received his Bachelor’s, Master’s and Advanced Study Degrees from that school. Following college, Dave taught in the inner city of Albany for seven years. He became an Assistant Principal in 1979 and had his first Principalship in 1988. He and his wife, Sibel, moved to Washington State in 1995. He has been principal at Marysville-Pilchuck High School and, since 2000, has been a proud Royal. He lives with his wife and 8 year old son, Eli, in north Seattle. When asked what he likes best about Lynnwood High School, Mr. Golden said, “In over thirty years of education, I have never been involved in a school that had a more considerate and kind group of students and staff. There is a sense of family at Lynnwood that just doesn’t usually exist in high schools today. We are a really good school aiming to be even better.”

Dear Parents,

A Message from the Principal: May, 2008

Well, the year is winding down and summer will soon be upon us. I’d like to thank you for all your support this year. I believe that it has been a really good one. From our early football victories to our last assembly program, extra-curricular activities have been outstanding this year. Our new Activities Coordinator, Ms. Aly Nelson and our new Athletic Coordinator, Mr. Rob McMains, have been great additions to our staff. Our students have been well behaved (behavior incidents are down) and working hard (I believe test scores will be up) and to top it off, you have shown your commitment to quality technology in our classrooms with your support of the Tech Levy.
Next year will surely be eventful as we close one building and open another. So, rest up and encourage your child to read, read and read some more this summer.

Improving Our Communication to You

Dear Royal Families,

We hope you like our new shorter, but more frequentnewsletter format. I wanted to share with you was the inspirational work done by so many of our students as they collected cans for our local food shelter. Annually, we collect food between Thanksgiving and Winter Break. This year, we collected over NINE THOUSAND items!
The generosity and community spirit of our students never ceases to amaze me.

Contacting Us Over Winter Break ...

The District is making a much needed switch over to new phone
equipment over the holiday recess. As a result, you will not be able
to leave voicemails for staff between Dec. 22 and Jan. 6. If there is
some emergency, my suggestion is that you email (teacher's last
name first initial @edmonds.wednet.edu) or contact the district office
at 425-431-7000 and someone will get a message to our office.

Here is what is planned so far … January through June 2008 youwill receive a monthly, four-page Ledger so information is getting to you in a more timely fashion. In the next several months, you will
