This
page contains some helpful links for our parents,
including links to student grades on Skyward
and the new PTSA
site.
We have put together some resources that we think
may be of help to parents wanting to be involved
in their children's education. We have included
links to both the Edmonds
School District Curriculum Frameworks and
the Washington
State Essential Learning Requirements so parents
can know what subjects should be covered at each
grade level and in what sequence they should be
covered.
Check Student Grades Online
Skyward
Family Access gives you the ability to view
your student's attendance, grades, fees and demographic
information online. Account information (username
and password) is mailed to each family during
the month of September. With your account you
will be able to view information for all of your
children attending the Edmonds School District.
WebTrekker Student Accounts
Students now have a secure "digital locker" that is accessible both at school and at home. They can store files for retrieval both at school and at home as well as submit assignments to and receive corrected assignments from their teachers. Click here for the WebTrekker Access.
Parent Advisory Committees
All vocational areas have advisory committees
whose membership includes parents and business
representatives for input and problem-solving.
If you are interested in participating, contact
the Professional-Technical Education Office at
(425) 431-7120.
Parent Rights
1. Parents (natural parents and legal guardians)
have the right to inspect and review the Educational
Record and may receive copies, upon request, at
a charge not to exceed cost to the district for
reproductions.
2. Educational Records is interpreted to mean
any and all materials maintained by a school district
directly related to a student regardless of where
or how materials are filed. This includes reports
gained with parent permission from non-district
agencies and individuals.
3. Parents have the right to challenge record
content on grounds that it is:
(a) inaccurate
(b)misleading
(c) in violation of privacy of students, or
(d) inappropriate
Grades granted for a class are not covered except
if an error in recording of the grade is suspected.
Parents may enter their own clarification of information
into record. An impartial hearing by district
records officers will be held if concerns cannot
be resolved by building staff and parents.
Family Rights and Privacy Act
The District is required to protect families
from unauthorized release of certain information
about students. However, "directory information"
may be released without permission of parents,
unless parents notify their child's school, in
writing, of their objections by October 1. Directory
information is routinely used by the District
in news releases, school event programs and student
directories. Such information is also released
for the purpose of providing educational, scholarship,
vocational, occupational and/or military information
and services. Directory information includes the
student's name, phone number (except unlisted
numbers), address, date and place of birth, major
field of study, participation in officially recognized
activities and athletics, weight/height of members
of athletic teams, grade in school, dates of attendance,
degrees and awards received and previous educational
agency or institution attended by student. Parent
rights transfer to student at age 18 or upon attendance
in post-high school education. Parents may retain
rights if a student continues in a dependent status.
There are many opportunities for parents to be
involved in the life of Lynnwood High School.
We have listed some possible areas for involvement
and the names of people to contact.
