District Goal #1 Create engaging learning experiences that provide all students the opportunity to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to experience post-secondary success, meet personal goals, and become productive community members.

District Goal #2 Support a diverse, highly-skilled, professionally involved and fairly compensated staff.

District Goal #3 Expand community support and engagement by increasing the number of parents and community members participating in District decision making and playing a role in student achievement.

District Goal #4 Maximize resources to support the district’s mission and goals.

Goal #1 (supports building/program goal to improve student achievement):

Conduct psychoeducational assessments that yield functional recommendations and complete required documentation in compliance with federal, state and district regulations in a timely and organized fashion.

Indicators of progress toward goal (include one piece of evidence measuring impact on students; feedback from students/parents is encouraged):

  • Student files will be completed and turned in within the timelines established by state law and district policy, as noted on the department evaluation log.
  • Files will meet state and district criteria for compliance.
  • Evaluation reports will include clear statements of adverse impact and need for specially designed instruction along with functional recommendations related to assessment data.
  • Survey of parents/teachers will indicate usefulness of evaluation recommendations.

Specific strategies (at least one strategy per goal must include collegial collaboration):

  • Develop an organizational system to track referrals and timelines.
  • Use prepared procedural flowcharts and compliance checklists.
  • Use Public Folder resources to develop clear statements of adverse impacts; related need for specially designed instruction and recommendations for functional instructional strategies.
  • Ask colleague/mentor/supervisor to review first five Evaluation Reports and files prior to submission.
  • Attend regular collegial cohort meeting for on-going consultation.

Goal #2 (supports building/program goal to improve student achievement):

Facilitate effective team meetings that provide a safe and supportive forum for presenting and addressing concerns about students with learning and behavioral challenges.

Indicators of progress toward goal (include one piece of evidence measuring impact on students; feedback from students/parents is encouraged):

  • Regular attendance and participation of team members, including parents.
  • Positive feedback on parent and team surveys.

Specific strategies (at least one strategy per goal must include collegial collaboration):

  • Establish a clear meeting schedule with well-defined roles and norms.
  • Establish and follow clear guidelines for referrals.
  • Maintain good communication, including notification of agendas, time/date changes, etc.
  • Develop template to structure meeting and take notes.
  • Consult with colleague/mentor/supervisor.
  • Observe meetings conducted by other school psychologists.
  • Ask colleague/mentor/supervisor to observe meeting and give feedback.
