Important Notes:

  • Register at your neighborhood school if you are new to the Edmonds School District in case we are unable to approve your School Change Application
  • If approved, parents are responsible for transportation to and from the approved school
  • Secondary student athletes who make a change of schools without a corresponding change of residence must compete at the sub-varsity level for one calendar year
  • This process does not apply to Madrona Multi-Age K-8, Maplewood Parent Cooperative K-8, Edmonds Heights K-12, eLearning, Scriber Lake High School, CLIP, or International Baccalaureate. Please contact these schools directly for their entry guidelines.
  • Students who are accepted for School Change may continue to attend that school without reapplying in future years unless district attendance boundaries are changed or a school has exceeded its school/student seats available.
  • If the student wishes to continue at the high school level in the attendance area of the approved middle school, they must apply for and be approved for School Change to that high school. Without an approved School Change to the next level, students are expected to return to their neighborhood high school.
  • Parents of out-of-district students will be contacted prior to final approval to obtain a Choice Transfer Request (CTR) from their resident school district. The CTR will be required to the beginning of each school year that the student is enrolled in the Edmonds School District. Failure to submit a yearly CTR may result in the withdrawal of your child from the Edmonds School District.
  • Students must be enrolled with their correct permanent home address. Address verification will be required.
  • Students who are accepted for School Change may be asked to return to their neighborhood school if there are issues with academic standing (no “F” grades and above a 2.0 GPA), attendance (no unexcused absences or excessive tardiness and/or discipline/behavior violations (suspensions).
