Food Service is a self supporting, customer driven, department that provides nutritious food in a cost effective manner building healthy minds and bodies ready to learn.
We serve approximately 2,300 Breakfasts and 6,400 Lunches each day to Edmonds School District students. Thirty eight percent of enrolled students qualify for free or reduced priced meals.
We serve Breakfast and Lunch in every school every day school is in session unless otherwise announced.
Research has shown that there is an important, positive relationship between good nutrition and health, behavior and student learning. The Edmonds School District participates in the National School Lunch Program, the School Breakfast Program and the USDA Food Distribution Program. United States Department of Agriculture regulations guide our program. Weekly and monthly menus are planned by experienced staff members and reviewed by a Registered Dietitian. These menus meet the USDA specifications based on the 2010 Dietary Guidelines for Healthy Americans.
Continuing the practice started May 17, 2010, students who intend to buy food through the school meals program must pay in advance or pay as they go to purchase items. No credit will be extended.
What if your student still has unpaid debt on his/her account?
A student with debt from previous school years on their account can bring cash or check (checks must be made payable to Edmonds School District) and pay as they go for meals! The full amount owed on all IOUs still must be paid. Per Board Policy 8440, transcripts will be held for students who have a balance owing from previous years.
