We are very proud of our community of students, parents, and teachers. As our mission statement proclaims, “Lynnwood Elementary School is a diverse learning community committed to excellence in academics, ingenuity, and personal character.”
We have a wonderfully diverse student population. Collectively, our bilingual students speak about 40 different languages representing all parts of the world. Our richness of diversity is honored throughout the school year and celebrated each June with FAME. This is an evening of global singing, dancing, and food provided by the families in our community.
This wealth of diversity only adds to our strong academic programs. Using the state and district standards, we give our students a strong academic foundation while developing their creativity and critical thinking skills. Our teachers are committed to learning each child's strengths and needs. From this information, they create a classroom environment that both challenges and supports every student. Our parents play a very important role as well. As our students' first teacher, all of our parents are responsible for staying in communication with the classroom teachers, as well as making sure their children are well rested and get to school every day on time.
Lynnwood Elementary School is a safe place to be. This is due, in large part, to our very strong Character Education program. Each month, students volunteer to be a part of our Kids Character Committee. Every week, all of our students commit to stop bullying through reciting our “Olweus” Anti-Bullying pledge and participating in classroom meeting discussions. Each day, we monitor our student and staff success with our Peace Day initiative. We believe that every moment is an opportunity to further develop our students' moral aptitude.
Whether you are a long time “Lynnwood Leopard” or new to the school, I encourage you get involved. Beyond volunteering, we have many evening school events to attend. Each year, our Parent Faculty Team sponsors a Fall Festival, three Movie Nights, three Skate Nights, a Fun Run, and monthly information meetings. Our music department hosts a number of choir, band, orchestra, and special grade-level performances throughout the school year. Our drama department, stages the best elementary-level musical production you will ever see. Beyond this, our teachers run Curriculum Night in the fall, Open House in the spring, and a variety of Math Nights in between. We are also very excited to host our first Science Fair this May. We would love to see you at these events!
