Smarter Balanced Assessment (SBA)

Beginning in the spring of 2015, the state of Washington will be giving a new state assessment called the Smarter Balanced Assessment. The reason that the state is changing the state assessment is because the state has adopted new student learning standards, called Common Core State Standards. Standards are simply statements of what students are expected to know and be able to do at each grade level. Details about the new standards can be found on links below. 

The Smarter Balanced Assessment is designed to measure how well our students are progressing toward meeting the new student learning standards. The test assesses two areas: English Language Arts and Mathematics, and will be given in grades 3-8 and high school. More details about the new assessment can be found on the links listed below.
