It is the policy of Edmonds School District to welcome local news media representatives to attend all regular and special meetings of the Board of Directors, except executive sessions.

A copy of the board meeting agenda will be sent in advance of each official Board meeting to members of the press who have filed a request. In the event that representatives of the news media are unable to attend a meeting, they shall be provided with information regarding Board actions or given access to tape records of the meeting, upon request. The superintendent or designee will provide school district information to the news media at reasonable times and places.

All reports approved by the Board will be considered a matter of public record and, upon request, will be made available to the press or other members of the public.

When an individual Board member receives a request from a news media representative for information about Board meetings, the member may speak only for himself/herself and not as spokesperson for the Board unless this responsibility has been specifically delegated to such Board member.
