It is the policy of Edmonds School District to recognize that financial management comprises the foundational support of the public education system. To make that support as effective as possible, the Board intends:

  1. To encourage advance planning through sound budget procedures;
  2. To pursue practical and legal sources of income;
  3. To guide the expenditure of funds so as to achieve maximum educational effectiveness; and
  4. To require efficiency in accounting and reporting procedures.

As trustees of funds allocated for use in local public education, the Board of Directors has the responsibility to protect the funds and use them wisely. Staff is directed to implement a system of budgeting and accounting consistent with state statutes and generally accepted governmental accounting standards. Such accounts are to be organized and operated on a basis to facilitate program planning and accountability.
