It is the policy of Edmonds School District that all employees shall comply with the Federal Copyright Law.

The Board recognizes that the above law makes it illegal to duplicate or use copyright material without authorization of the holder of the copyright, except for certain exempt purposes as outlined in regulation 4400-R1. To assure compliance with the law and to protect staff members and the district against legal redress for alleged violations of the copyright laws, any staff member making the reproduction and/or use of such copied materials shall ascertain that such copying is within the law.

Any staff member who is uncertain as to individual legal responsibilities and penalties, and whether reproducing or using copyrighted materials complies with the District's procedures or is permissible under the law shall refer to regulation 4400-R1, Guidelines for Copyright Compliance, or to the most recent edition of Copyright Condensed, or contact the superintendent or the person designated as the copyright compliance officer.
