Did you know? Money from the 2006 Capital Construction Bond and from the sale or ground lease of district property legally must go toward capital improvements. It cannot help fund instruction or staffing needs.

Fall 2007

CONSTRUCTION BEGINS!

A ground-breaking ceremony on June 19, 2007, marked the official beginning of construction on the new Lynnwood High School site. That same day, surveying crews for Cornerstone General Contractors, Inc., arrived on site, at 18218 North Road, to begin laying out the work that will take place during the next two years. Everything is on schedule, and students will begin attending classes in September 2009.

Between June and December 2007, the following steps will be or have already been taken at the site:

  • Logging debris was removed and the ground shaped and leveled for the building, athletic fields, roadways, and parking;
  • Work on underground utilities has taken place;
  • The first concrete pour for the main building occurred in September;
  • Invasive plant species removal in the forested buffers will begin; and
  • Structural steel framework will be visible in November.

The new school will feature classrooms that are naturally ventilated using passive ventilation principals and are naturally daylighted. In order to do this, the District worked diligently to ensure a system that will work well during all seasons. In addition, the natural flow of air and light will be a benefit to the environment and the learning taking place in the school.
