It is important that as we add technology tools to classrooms,
teachers receive support in using the tools effectively. Technology
is constantly changing and new avenues are opening up daily. Edmonds
School District is committed to supporting teachers as they learn
to:
• create class websites that include assignments and valuable
resources for students to use at home,
• use the new electronic student information system and grade
book,
• instruct students using the Classroom
Tech Station equipment,
• integrate Student Tech Tools
into the classroom curriculum,
• and begin to experiment with other tools such as those provided
with our Innovative Tech
Grant.
We support teachers through classes:
• Each teacher receives a minimum of 3 hours hands on laptop
training.
• Each teacher receiving Student Tech Tools receives at
least 21 hours training to incorporate student tools into their
instruction. On-going coaching is provided as well.
• Additionally, classes on a wide variety of topics are
continually available for any teacher to take.
We support teachers through coaching:
•Every teacher receives 3 hours of hands on training on
how to use technology tools for learning. The majority of our
professional development support for this levy comes in the form
of job-embedded, on-going professional development through a coaching
model. We currently have 65 coaches throughout 30 of our schools
helping teachers find powerful ways to use technology to improve
learning in literacy, math, and science. You can find out more
