Now that you are back at school, your instructional laptop should be receiving its regular
updates just by being connected to the system everyday.
Reminders for Laptop Care
Set up your laptop everyday, whether you plan to use it or not.
Classroom teachers: Connect it to your projector and document camera
Student Services and others: Use it in your work spaces
Log on and check your e-mail regularly. This will also serve the purpose of logging in for the theft recovery system to work, if necessary.
Use your lock to keep it secured whenever unattended.
Get in the habit of locking the laptop to a desk or Classroom Tech Station.
Lock your classroom/office doors whenever you leave the room.
Take great care to protect your laptop when off work property.
Keep the laptop locked when unattended.
-
Lock it in the trunk of your car to transport it to and from work
-
Do not leave it in the car overnight
-
Keep your home locked to prevent theft
Contact X7333 immediately if a theft should occur so it can be tracked
- Call the police and get a police report and case number
- Notify your principal and office manager so the paperwork can be initiated.
The laptop is your responsibility. Do not hand off your laptop to another person when you are not around.
If you go on leave, contact Saundra (X7296) to transfer your laptop to your substitute. This gets the responsibility out of your name.
Notify the Help Desk (X7333) if you plan to install additional software on the laptops.
Make sure the software is legally licensed and of educational/professional value first
Help desk will check to ensure you will not have conflicts with your software
Sincerely,
