Below are various Tech levy issues:
(1) Projectors and Document Presenters
Now that our 2005-2006 school year is well underway, do you have any extra levy Hitachi projectors and AverVision document
presenters in your school?
If so, please let Cathi Greenwood or Cynthia Nelson know. We want to make sure everyone has the equipment they need,
and that we don't have equipment lying around gathering dust.
(2) Projectors and Document Presenters - Part 2
Last year we gave the schools an electronic file with the barcodes and serial numbers of the equipment they had.
We know that equipment has moved around in your school since we last updated this information.
Please keep your schools information up-to-date. This is important when there is a theft in your building.
The police and Property Management dept. will want to know what the barcode and serial number of the stolen equipment,
so having an updated list is very helpful.
(3) Software Deals - All the Right Type
We have purchased site licenses for All the Right Type Version 3.7 for all elementary, middle, K-8 and EHRC, as
part of the Tech Levy. We will be installing this software on the 15 laptops that are part of the mobile labs.
This software is for teaching keyboarding skills.
Since this is a site license, this means you (sorry, not the high schools) can install All the Right
Type Version 3.7 on any computer at your school.
Additionally, Ingenuity Works (the company that sells All the Right Type) has a
"Student Take Home Offer".

Seaview Elementary did this
last year and raised some funds for their school.
(4) Software Deals - DeepFreeze
This deal isn't as good as the one mentioned above, but all schools get this benefit. Since we purchased many licenses of
DeepFreeze for the computers that are part of the mobile labs, you can now purchase DeepFreeze for only $7.92 per computer.
This includes the 1st year of maintenance.
DeepFreeze is a software utility program that protects and preserves the original configuration of a computer. Any
changes made to the computer, will be gone when the computer is restarted. Lynnwood High has been using this with success
in their library labs and Career and Tech Ed is implementing it in all of their labs.
(5) Original Gateway M460 (black dot) and S-video cables
We have sent out S-video cables to people who received the first batch of Gateway M460s. These have Intel graphics boards
in them and are called either Intel M460 or "black dot" Gateways. The S-video cable is needed if folks want to connect
these directly to the Hitachi CPS-235 projector. The regular VGA cable can be use in most situations, but if it doesn't
work, use the S-video cable.
See details in the word document in the Tech Levy Materials public folder - SVideoandDot.doc
(6) 2005-06 Site-specific Building Allocations
Information has been sent out on the $10 per student FTE allocation to provide site-specific technology-related items.
.....As always, if you have any questions about the Technology Levy, please don't hesitate to ask Kim Mathey or myself.
