Message from the Superintendent

Dear Edmonds School District Students, Families, Staff & Community,

Welcome to the 2017-2018 School Year!  One of the great things about being in public education is that each fall is a new beginning, but this one feels extra special and extra important. We will be learning a lot more over the course of the next few months about the impacts of the new State Funding System. Our Levy in February will be critically important and new rules about Levy’s from the state will be out soon. We will keep you informed as we learn more!

We are excited to be working collaboratively to serve our 21,317 students.  As a school system, we are deeply committed to ensuring that each and every student is engaged, feels safe, finds joy and is achieving high levels of academic success. Every member of our Team is here to help make that happen.

Our School District’s Strategic Direction is framed around our four areas of Commitment: Equity of Opportunity; Effective Learning for All Students; PreK-3rd Grade Early Learning; and Graduates who are Ready for Life!  We are developing systems, policies, practices and action plans that support these areas of commitment. There is a lot of great work occurring in each of these areas.  We are measuring our progress through a data dashboard of key performance indicators. Much more information can be found on our website under About Us/Strategic Direction.

We cannot do this world’s most important work in isolation. We are truly committed to authentic engagement of our families and our community in partnership. Our children will thrive when we come together to create the conditions for their success.

We look forward to a great school year and we thank you for your ongoing support!

Best wishes,

Dr. Kristine McDuffy
Superintendent
