4500 - Food Services Program

Adopted:
9/9/03

In recognition that school meals support the academic achievement and physical well being of our students, the Edmonds School Board authorizes the Superintendent to administer a Food Service Program in the Edmonds School District. The goals of this program shall be to provide nutritious, safe, attractive, cost-effective meals to the students of the district. The program shall participate in federal and state nutrition programs, and comply with all nutritional and accountability regulations of those programs.

It is the expectation of the School Board that this program will operate on a cost-effective financial basis, maximize available reimbursement opportunities through the federal and state governments, and be run as an enterprise program as defined by the School District.

In order to supplement program revenue generated from sale of meals and government reimbursements, the School Board also authorizes the Food Service Department to offer catering services for a fee to programs and community organizations within the limits of RCW 28A.235.120.
