How To Register for classes
Each year students are asked to select courses they wish to take for the next school year. Careful thought should be given to course selection as fall offerings are dependent upon student pre-registration in the spring.
- Review graduation requirements
- Use the course planning sheet to help make correct class selections
- Students take six credit bearing classes per semester
- Current 9th – 11th grade will request courses online. Current 8th (incoming 9th) will complete paper requests. An additional handout will be available during registration.
Schedule Change Policy and Procedures
All students choose courses each spring for the following school year through the pre-registration process. The courses students choose at that time are the basis for the final selection of courses to be offered. Careful thought must be given to class choices during pre-registration to ensure appropriate course offerings and sections the following year.
Once a computer-generated schedule is created, schedules will only be corrected under the following conditions:
• Graduation deficiency—must repeat a requirement
• Seniors—graduation requirement omitted
• Duplicate period—2 or more classes for one period
• Misplacement
• Sections added to/deleted from Master Schedule
• Teacher determines an incorrect course level or prerequisite
Drop Policy:
After the fifth (5th) school day of a semester, classes may be dropped but no new classes may be added. Only Teacher Assistants may be added after this time. Classes may be dropped up to fifteen days into the semester without penalty. Classes dropped after the first 15 days of the semester will be reflected on the transcript with an "F" grade regardless of current grade. Students transferring classes may be required to make up any missed assignments and attendance will continue to the new class.
Incoming freshman (currently in 8th grade) - Enrollment forms are available in February for students currently enrolled in a private school in our service area. Class registration forms will be available at that time and must be returned by early March.
Student already attending a Edmonds School District middle school do not need enrollment paperwork. Class registration forms will be brought to your middle school in March.
