RUNNING START:

This program allows 11th and 12th grade students to take college courses at one of the local community colleges. A student may take a college course, 100 level or above while completing high school. Applications are available from your counselor or the Career Center .

TECH PREP: A new statewide website allows you to register for all classes in one place! Go to http://SERS/techprepwa.org.

The Edmonds Tech Prep Program (http://techprep.edcc.edu) is a dual enrollment program that allows high school students to take classes on their own campus and receive both high school and college professional/technical credit upon successful completion of certain courses. The Tech Prep Program is a plus point to a high school student’s college and beyond plan.

Your Steps to Tech Prep: Enroll in a Tech Prep class in your high school. Apply before the deadline.  No fee this year but you must register. Complete the class and earn a B grade or higher. There are no other costs involved. Start your college education now through the Edmonds Tech Prep Program or through College Credit and Careers Network for Bellevue College and Lake Washington Technical school (www.collegecreditcareersnetwork.org).

Need a Job??? EDMONDS CAREER CONNECTIONS- is an online job board and has listings of volunteer opportunities, mentors and more.  Students must first come to the Career Center for a parent permission form to use the online site. 

Criteria for VOLUNTEER Credit- Obtain pre-approval forms from Ms. Roberts in the Career Center. Work 90 hours in one semester and get an evaluation from your supervisor.  Earn .50 credit.

Criteria for PE/OUTSIDE INSTRUCTION Credit-  Obtain pre-approval forms from Ms. Roberts in the Career Center.  Practice, Play, or Perform for 90 hours in one semester; log hours and get an evaluation from your supervisor.  Earn .50 credit.

Need a U.S. Passport, or to renew your Passport? We have the applications and information in the Career Center.  If you are 18 years old, now is the time to get a U.S. Passport.  You need a Passport to travel to Canada.

Males approaching your 18th birthday may pick up an application to register with the Selective Service.  If you fail to register you will not qualify for federal student grants or loans for college or for federal employment and you are breaking the law.  Go to www.sss.gov  for online registration.
