Happy Spring!! Our final two events for the Terrace Park Orchestras are the Quadrant Concert on Tuesday May 21st and our end of the year concert on Thursday June 6th. Check the link to the left for the following information for the quad concert.
I'm looking forward to the Quad Concert and for you to see the progress of our students! Remember...it is a requirement that all students attend this concert.
1. General Letter of information
2. Permission slip and parent chaperone sig.
How to practice
1. Clap and count rhythms outloud
2. Clap and say note names
3. Clap and say fingerings
4. Practice 5 times
Also, when you are practicing, take out your sticker objective sheet and go through the technical exercises before you play your pieces in the book. When playing the book pieces, go through them without the CD then try it with the CD/DVD. For even more fun, record yourself and play it back....you'll be amazed at how nice you sound!

I'm Myrnie Van Kempen and I'm very happy to be at Terrace Park teaching 5th and 6th grade strings this 2012-2013 year.
This is my second year at Terrace Park although I did teach in the "old" building in the mid '90s:) It's great to be back and I'm having a great time working with your children!
I taught High School Orchestra for 17 years and Middle school and Elementary for many more than that :) I am currently the Washington State American String Teachers Association President for our state and am very passionate about music advocacy and giving your children the best string education possible.
